GLEN LERNER INJURY ATTORNEYS PARTNERS WITH HOPE WORKS!

Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys is supporting Hope Work’s mission by collecting donations of gently used business clothing and shoes that will benefit individuals currently being mentored by Hope Works Chicago. See below for information and Drop-off Locations.

Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys recognizes the great work done by local community organizations that day in and out tackle serious needs in their neighborhoods. One such organization making a significant impact in their local neighborhood is Hope Works Community Development.

Since 2014, Hope Works, located in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood is doing all they can to help individuals get back to work. Their staff and volunteers work one-on-one to design specific solutions to long-term unemployment in a community where 41% make less than $15,000 per year and 32% percent meet the federal standards for “severely impoverished”.
Hope Works realized early on, that local families desired to find long-term employment but lacked the access to programming that could guide them in the job search and recruitment. Hope Works believes that when a family has a steady income, it permeates to their health, their children’s education, and their overall well-being. By providing individualized mentoring, Hope Works partners with families at risk to forge a pathway from unemployment and crisis to hope and well-being.

Working Together for Greater Impact!

On November 19th 2016, Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys, with the cooperation of the Boys and Girls Club of Morgan Park, The Chicago Police Department (District 9, 11 & 22) and in further collaboration with 25 Chicago Southside businesses and not-for-profit organizations, hosted the first ever regional community “give back” event called 2016 Give Thanks, Give Hope, Give Back, 1,000X.

This multi-organization effort provided a Thanksgiving food basket for 1,000 disadvantaged Chicago Southside families hailing from 22 different communities. Each of the baskets contained a 10-12 lb. turkey, fruit cocktail, green beans, mandarin oranges, cranberry sauce, yams, fresh potatoes and fresh bread.

By combining the resources of our 25 partner organizations, 1,000 families had the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving around a dinner table with their loved ones.

Some of our partners helped with the direct outreach to families, others donated goods and services, and many of them provided volunteers before, during and after the day of the event. 150 volunteers donated over 1,000 service hours to make this event a resounding success.

Groups such as The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Operation Blessing in Alsip, and the Salvation Army helped us by providing logistical support as well as volunteers for this event.

The Chicago Police Department (Districts 9, 11 and 22) also played a key role in this event by providing basic security, volunteers, and by identifying 65 needy families within their respective districts who would not have otherwise been able to participate. Police officers from those districts personally delivered the Thanksgiving Food Baskets to the families in need!

Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys was honored to serve alongside each of these distinguished organizations and look forward to future events that continue to build local communities through coordinated regional charitable events.
